In an interview with The Metal Voice , David Ellefson revealed that Megadeth's new album is written and ready to be recorded, and the only reason it hasn't been recorded yet is due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We’re working on it [the new album], it’s written and ready to be recorded. We were going to start recording at the end of March, but of course COVID-19 happened. We were going to Nashville and start cutting tracks for the album, but with everything shut down, we obviously had to postpone. When the quarantine is over and it’s safe, we’ll be ready to rock as soon as possible,” revealed the bassist.

Regarding the album itself, Ellefson stated, “I think it’s a great album, it’s very heavy with a lot of thrash Dave [Mustaine] ’s throat cancer treatments , we were all working on the album and that added a totally different angle to the flavor of the album – that’s how we used to do all our albums, writing, pre-production and rehearsal together.”

David even talked about the sound of the new album, "We have everything, from thrash , from Killing Is My Business and Peace Sells , to the more refined moments of Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings . So, I think the album will have a little bit of everything, so that's good news for Megadeth fans." We couldn't be more excited, right?
