After leaving Megadeth , bassist David Ellefson launched his new band The Lucid alongside Vinnie Dombroski , vocalist of Sponge , guitarist Drew Fortier , and Mike Heller , drummer of Fear Factory.
The news came this Wednesday, the 8th, with the announcement of The Lucid's first album. Self-titled, the album will be released on October 15th by SpoilerHead Records, and the first sample has been released. “Maggot Wind”, which you can listen to below, is the debut single from the album.
The Lucid mixing and mastering by Lasse Lammert available for pre-order at this link.
The album will be released months after his departure from Megadeth, which followed a sex scandal involving a teenage girl in May of this year. Explicit videos exchanged between the bassist and a young woman were leaked, and accusations circulated on social media that the relationship occurred before the girl reached the age of majority, in a case of corruption of minors, something that the musician and the young woman herself, currently 19 years old, have publicly denied.
In a statement sent to Rolling Stone , the musician reiterated his innocence of the accusations and briefly mentioned his former bandmates. “Recently, a very private video was illegally posted online and false allegations were made against me. The actions in the video were consensual between two adults and were recorded without my knowledge,” he stated. “I am working with the Scottsdale Police Department to investigate the revenge porn allegations against the person who posted this video.”
