Jeff Scott Soto appears to have revived his project with David Ellefson , three months after the singer said their collaboration was "on hold" while the former Megadeth dealt with the aftermath of his scandal.

Last March, Soto and Ellefson announced they were collaborating on some new material under the moniker “ELLEFSON-SOTO”. The duo’s version of the RIOT , “Swords & Tequila”, was released simultaneously on all digital streaming platforms by Combat Records.

In October, Soto was asked in an interview with Dr. Music if the rest of the material he recorded with Ellefson would eventually see the light of day. Soto said, “I hope that happens at some point. I gave David, like many people, the space and time to deal with his own things.”

“We were preparing for the launch and obviously things were suspended for that reason,” he explained. “And it’s better that things fade away and calm down, because we don’t need the kind of press that comes with this, especially the comments [from] internet cowboys out there. Let’s kind of let it slip under the rug, and I’m sure these things will resurface. And the idea of it will resurface and take us there… I’m sure we’ll revisit everything when the time is right.”

Last Tuesday, the 18th, Soto shared a photo of himself with Ellefson on Instagram, and the caption was: “Something forming in Los Angeles today… #davidellefson”.

When Ellefson's collaboration with Soto was first announced, David said in a statement: “Jeff and I have been friends for so many years, it’s great to finally collaborate on some material together. He has such a distinctive voice and style that’s perfect for some new ideas that my guitarist Andy Marongelli and I are writing. We’re excited about the progress of all of this and thought this would be the perfect time to give a little preview.”

At the time, Jeff added: “As COVID-19 became a huge negative around the world, it really offered a lot of artists the chance to finally collaborate with each other, which maybe never would have happened otherwise… As I’ve known David for many years, we knew from our other endeavors outside of our day jobs that we could create some dope jams… and here we are, telling you our cool little secret.”
