Megadeth bassist David Ellefson has released a solo single, from his Ellefson , titled "Simple Truth." The track was accompanied by an EP of the same name.
All proceeds from streams and purchases of the work will be donated to the fight against COVID-19 led by the Italian Red Cross. The song was originally slated for a later release, but Ellefson released the entire EP on Bandcamp to encourage fans to support the Italian Red Cross, the country most affected by the pandemic so far.
The EP features the title track, followed by a remix and a live version recorded in Italy of "Vultures" from the 2019 album, Sleeping Giants . The project also includes "If You Were God," also recorded in Italy.
In addition to the EP, Ellefson is working on the School's Out to help young musicians during the pandemic. The project offers lessons from major rock and heavy metal artists such as Dirk Verbeuren and Kiko Loureiro, his Megadeth bandmates, Frank Bello (Anthrax), Nita Strauss (guitarist for Alice Cooper), Chris Kael (Five Finger Death Punch), and more.
“When one person is suffering, we all suffer together, and this moment is unprecedented in history; the world is united for a single cause,” said Ellefson. “Music and the other arts have always been some of the best healers.”.
