David Ellefson opens up about sex scandal: "Now I know how Jesus felt"

Former Megadeth bassist described his feelings after the accusations on the internet.

A few months after being fired from Megadeth and withdrawing from the media spotlight due to a sex scandal , David Ellefson has a new musical project and has begun to speak openly about the events in interviews.

The band's dismissal came just days after intimate videos of Ellefson circulated on social media, accusing the bassist of having a virtual relationship with an underage fan , a claim denied by the musician and the young woman with whom he had an extramarital affair online, who was allegedly 19 years old at the time of their first online meeting.

That Metal Interview podcast (via Blabbermouth ), Ellefson recounted his experience dealing with such serious accusations and the repercussions of the released images. “I’m fine. I just stepped away from the scene. I took the time I needed to process all of this, to heal. Obviously, nothing like this had ever happened to me before. And the fact that it was happening like this was… I couldn’t believe the level of shit humanity was at,” he said.

At the time the images of the encounters were leaked, the profile responsible for the posts accused Ellefson of "pedophilia ," claiming that the relationship with the fan had begun when she was still a minor.

“Not to use a religious reference, but I think I now know how Jesus felt. Carry your cross and then kill him. Shit, we got the wrong guy. I don’t mean to say it’s a religious thing, but it’s just one of those situations… I couldn’t even believe it. I’m not going to lie – I deserve better than that,” he vented. “That’s why I got off social media and all that stuff. I’ve dedicated my whole life to my craft, my work, my art, and being an artist, nobody deserves to be treated like that. That’s absolutely unnecessary on any level.”
