"We're going to play some different songs."
Megadeth is coming to Brazil at the end of this month, and we at Wikimetal chatted with bassist David Ellefson about his expectations for the South American tour and the band's future plans.
David began by telling us that Brazil was one of the first countries in South America where Megadeth played, and that makes every visit special.
Of course, this time the performance will be even more special, as Brazilian Kiko Loureiro is accompanying the band on tour. "He complements the band with an international flavor; he has really cool and interesting influences like Brazilian jazz, and that's great for Megadeth ," David says.
When asked if they were preparing anything special for this series of shows in Argentina and Chile, the bassist confessed that the setlist had undergone some changes. "We're going to play some older songs and others that we didn't play at the last show in São Paulo."
Dystopia tour comes to an end at Monsters Of Rock in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and David says that Megadeth will then take a break from the stage to focus on their new album.
The bassist says they don't yet have new material to release but hope to begin production on their album in 2018. "We're living in a very polarized political situation, and I believe that helps with our songwriting, as many of our songs address this theme. These things usually result in incredible Megadeth albums."
