After months of silence, David Ellefson has given a series of interviews to tell his side of the story regarding the sex scandal that led to his departure from Megadeth .
Despite the great commotion surrounding the incident due to rumors that the young woman Ellefson was involved with was underage when they met, many musicians showed their support for the bassist, including Dino Cazares , KK Downing , Dee Snider , and Frank Bello .
Talk Toomey program , David Ellefson spoke about how he dealt with the incident and all the support he received. "I deleted everything. I bought a new phone, changed my number, and people were just trying to help," he recounted.
“People from all over the world were coming to me of their own accord, offering me love, support, and help. People from everywhere; musicians, people from industry, friends from church and the recovery community. That helped a lot, for sure,” she concludes.
Ellefson also spoke about the importance of living in the real world instead of focusing on a virtual reality because the latter seems to be "bigger" than the world outside. "I went to Starbucks and nobody was mistreating me or gaslighting me. They just said, 'David, your coffee is ready.'"
“It wasn’t anything serious, and that was a big wake-up call because these things that happen on social media are just a false reality, it’s not real. It’s all nonsense. When you get out of there, when you step outside your house, you realize, ‘This guy isn’t falling apart and nobody really cares.’ And that’s the reality. Everything passes,” reflected the bassist.
In September, David Ellefson debuted with his new band, The Lucid , releasing a single and revealing the cover art for their first album.
