David Ellefson talks about what he misses in Megadeth.

Former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson was fired from the band in 2021 following a sexual scandal.

David Ellefson spoke about what he misses most about his time in Megadeth , in an interview with The Metal Voice , published on Loudwire . In 2021, Ellefson was fired from the band after a sex scandal involving the exchange of intimate messages between the musician and a person who was allegedly a minor at the time.

The bassist was the musician who played in Megadeth the longest, after Dave Mustaine . He recalled good moments from his history with the band. "I mean, look, it's my band too," said Ellefson. Jeff Young, a former Megadeth bandmate, also participated in the interview with him. "I helped start it, but let me be clear. Of course there are things I miss – the fans, the performances, the shows. And I like being on tour."

Ellefson also emphasized that things weren't always rosy for Megadeth, mainly because, at the time, they didn't have as much fame as they do now. “I'm a guy with a desire to travel. My life's destiny is out there, not sitting at home. I've tried, and I get bored after about a month. I'm terrible at golf and I can't surf, so I might as well just keep going on the road and playing,” he added.

“Of course there are things about that and the big shows and all that, but Megadeth wasn’t always about big shows. We started where everyone else starts – with small shows. So I dealt with that from the beginning to the top, and everything in between.”
