David Ellefson Megadeth bassist , says in an interview with Detroit radio station Meltdown that he no longer needs to work. However, the musician manages several projects outside of music and states that he is financially secure.

His business ventures include running a record label, producing horror films and documentaries, creating a line of coffee blends, and writing books. During the conversation, he was asked whether he pursues all these activities out of financial necessity or personal enjoyment.

“I literally don’t need to work another day in my life. I’m fine. Financially, I’m fine. So I do this purely for fun and for joy. And it’s great that my phone rings and people still want to hang out with me,” says Ellefson. (Transcribed via Blabbermouth )

David Ellefson and his investments

The bassist explained that all the activities involved are fun for him.

“These are projects I’m passionate about. Some of them bring me a little money here and there. Usually, I end up investing my own money in these things. But money is just a tool, and used wisely it can help many other people and do other incredible things.”

Ellefson was a member of Megadeth from 1983 to 2000. Despite this, in 2004 he sued Dave Mustaine , claiming the vocalist owed him money. However, the case was dismissed in 2005, and the bassist rejoined the band in 2010.

Following a sex scandal involving videos of the musician with a young woman whose age was not revealed, David was fired from the band in 2021.
