David Ellefson , the former bassist of Megadeth , is featured on the compilation album No Life 'Til Leather – A Tribute To Metallica's Kill 'Em All , a tribute to Metallica, scheduled for release on November 14th by Silver Lining Music .
David Ellefson plays a cover of the track “(Anesthesia) – Pulling Teeth”, the second single from the compilation released this Thursday, the 11th.
In a press release, the bassist commented:
"It was a total honor to be invited to participate in this album. Especially to record the iconic bass composition '(Anesthesia) – Pulling Teeth', by the incomparable Cliff Burton [late bassist of Metallica]."
“I was able to borrow one of Cliff’s signature Aria Pro basses and Morley fuzz/wah pedals for the session. The goal was to reproduce the sharp, yet booming tone he created on the original recording. I hope this tribute highlights Cliff’s distinctive personality and that his music lives on forever through this unique and iconic song he gave to the world.”
The first single from No Life 'Til Leather – A Tribute To Metallica's Kill 'Em All was a cover of "The Four Horsemen," performed by Almighty.
The compilation features veteran bands Saxon, Diamond Head , and Motörhead , three of Metallica's favorite bands. It also includes bands like Tailgunner, Soen , Testament, Raven , and Tygers of the Pan Tang .
