David Ellefson compares the impact of Ozzy Osbourne's death to that of Queen Elizabeth II.

The bassist also compared the British Royal Family to the Osbournes.

Former Megadeth David Ellefson gave his opinion on the impact Ozzy Osbourne had on the world. According to him, the last event of this magnitude was the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.

In an interview with The Logan Show , the musician stated that Elizabeth's funeral was probably the last event of such global impact. He even compared the British royal family to the Osbournes , stating that, symbolically, Sharon Osbourne had become the new "Queen of England".

“I feel there hasn’t been a significant event like this since the death and funeral of Queen Elizabeth. That was probably the last one with worldwide repercussions of this magnitude—ironically, coming from England. I feel there’s a new royal family: the Osbournes. It’s as if Sharon is now the Queen of England. They needed a new one, and she’s the one chosen. And that just shows the magnitude of what happened,” she said [transcription via Loudersound ].

David Ellefson also reflected that Ozzy's death brought the world together, even amidst the difficult times everyone has been facing. The musician stated that there are many layers to this moment, and the timing of what happened seemed divine.

“Lately it’s been nothing but turbulence, division, people against each other. Ozzy Osbourne united us through his music and life. Besides, there are so many layers you can uncover in all of this, and the divine timing is simply incredible, it’s moving. I get goosebumps just thinking about it,” he concluded.
