When publishing the official statement announcing David Ellefson from Megadeth in May, Dave Mustaine wrote that the relationship between the bassist and the rest of the band was already "distant." Now, in a recent interview on The Cassius Morris Show , Ellefson commented on his former bandmate's decision.
“I don’t feel that way, that was on their part,” he says. “Things are fine between us, I’m not here to throw stones or cause any kind of problem. For me, the focus is on moving forward. Obviously, we have a long history and all that, and I liked thinking that we tried to work to stay in the moment and keep moving forward.”
Moving on is what Ellefson has been doing after the sex scandal that ousted him from Megadeth . While the investigation into the case remains open, the bassist recently announced his new band, The Lucid , which released its first song in September and unveiled the cover art for its debut album .
“This summer I needed a moment to fall in love with making music again. I was wondering if I still wanted to play this game and it was weird, but I’ve been playing since I was a kid, since I was 11. I see you’re wearing a KISS ,” he told the host. “When I got my KISS records back, that’s when I decided to keep doing it.”
"That satisfaction is always there, and sometimes all you need to do is listen to your KISS records again and remember that this is why you love doing this," he concluded.
