David Ellefson claims he did “nothing illegal” by engaging with a young woman online.

Ellefson denies that the young woman in question was a minor when the online meetings began.

In an interview with Eddie Trunk , David Ellefson broke his silence about his dismissal from Megadeth and stated that he had done nothing "illegal" by having online and extramarital sexual relations with a young Dutch woman .

In May, Ellefson found himself at the center of a scandal after intimate videos of him leaked online. The "exposed" revealed that the musician maintained frequent contact with a 19-year-old girl, and the anonymous source claimed that the two met when the girl was still a minor. Both Ellefson and the young woman deny this last fact, stating that the relationship between the two existed with the consent of two adults.

“Any allegations about me having done anything illegal are false ,” Ellefson said. “I didn’t do anything, and that’s why I immediately hired a criminal lawyer. I went straight to the police department. And just so you know, a guilty guy doesn’t go to the police. Right? Just to clarify. It’s the guy who did nothing wrong who goes to the police. That’s why I went there and filled out a police report and let them handle it.”

Eddie Trunk then pointed out that the only apparent illegality in the case would be the leak of Ellefson's videos, which were recorded and publicly released without his consent. “Absolutely,” Ellefson agreed. “That’s why I didn’t hire a civil lawyer to sue people for a million dollars. I hired a criminal lawyer, and what they do is put people in jail. Because those were the crimes. You can’t just do something like that – release things – and not receive a penalty.”
