David Ellefson Megadeth bassist , returned to social media after months away with a mysterious post: the release date of the band The Lucid, a project started back in 2020.
In his first post since May, when he was fired from Megadeth for his involvement in a sex scandal with a teenage girl, Ellefson shared only the band's logo and the date: September 9th.
The project was formed last November when the band members invited Ellefson to record some bass tracks with The Lucid, which at the time consisted only of Vinnie Dombroski (vocalist of Sponge ), Drew Fortier (guitarist), and Mike Heller (drummer of Fear Factory ). There is no information about the group's current lineup.
“I was writing a new solo album at the time [of the invitation], so my studio ears were on. I was ready to record. Drew sent me [the music] and I thought, 'Wow, this is too cool, man,'” the bassist told The Chuck Schute podcast in 2020 (via Blabbermouth) . “We put the songs together and met in Los Angeles in mid-July. I plugged in my bass and made 10 songs in two days.”
In the same interview, the musician commented on the project's sound direction. "Obviously it's not thrash metal, since the name is Lucid," he explained. To date, the band has no social media pages or released tracks, suggesting that the date may be for the premiere of their first single.
