David Draiman of Disturbed called Tom Morello "shameful" after the guitarist announced his support for the band Kneecap .
Earlier last week, Tom Morello indicated, through an interview, the new band Kneecap as a contemporary act that is continuing the legacy of his band Rage Against The Machine .
The guitarist praised the Irish hip-hop trio who were recently accused of terrorism for one of their performances in which they declared support for Palestine. Tom placed the trio at the top of his list: “They are clearly the Rage Against the Machine of now. But [after them], there’s a gap for the next one.”
Morello defended Kneecap: “What they do with their art is what people could probably do more of in their lives: really tell the truth to the powerful. And, you know, Kneecap aren’t terrorists. What’s terrorist is, you know, 20,000 Palestinian children killed. That’s the story. Not some Irish rappers who don’t like what’s happening. [That] shouldn’t be the story.”
David Draiman responds to Tom Morello
Now, David Draiman has posted a response to Tom Morello on his social media, calling the guitarist's statement "shameful." Check out David's post:
"Shameful. Seriously. I wish I could say I was shocked. I guess my family doesn't count when it comes to the virtue of my 'friend' signaling to those who support terror and incite hatred against Jews."
Draiman is Jewish and has openly supported Israel during the conflict with Gaza. For this reason, the Dirtubed vocalist was met with many boos from the audience during his appearance at Back To The Beginning , Black Sabbath's farewell show, on Saturday, July 5th.
Kneecap's response to David Draiman
Shortly after David's comment, the band Kneecap also used social media to leave a comment about the Disturbed vocalist's criticism.
The trio posted the controversial photo of David Draiman autographing artillery shells belonging to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) with the message:
“We don’t care about anyone’s religion… or if they have one. We love all the jerks. Smiling and signing bombs to murder children and other people’s families just makes you a real jerk. Simple as that. Free Palestine.”
