During an appearance on a radio program , David Coverdale of Whitesnake recalled his partnership with Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin in the 90s and revealed why the project didn't continue.
According to Coverdale, the acclaimed album Coverdale/Page (1993) came very close to having a successor, but Jimmy Page's manager had other plans. "I was very excited," he says. "Jimmy and I worked very well creatively, as you can hear, and we had four or five more songs that hadn't been mixed."
“I said, ‘Jimmy, I have several ideas. Let’s do a Coverdale-Page 2 or a double album.’ Unfortunately, his manager convinced him not to go ahead with it, which was infuriating,” he added.
David Coverdale revealed that two of the songs in question were “Take Me Back Again” and “Woman Trouble Blues,” which ended up on his 1997 album with Whitesnake , Restless Heart . Despite the partnership not continuing, the singer promised “something special” for the 30th anniversary of the Coverdale/Page collaboration , which takes place in 2023: “It will be a lot of fun.”
