The monument depicts the various phases of the singer's career
The first statue honoring David Bowie was unveiled in Buckinghamshire, England, last Sunday, the 25th, and less than 48 hours later it was vandalized.
Named "Earthly Messenger," the monument was installed in Aylesbury Square, where he is said to have first performed as his Ziggy Stardust persona and debuted two albums at the local music venue in the 1970s.
Now, the memorial is covered in graffiti saying "feed the poor first" and "rest in peace, David Bowie," both on the statue and on the ground and wall behind it.
The project was conceived by David Stopps, a fan and resident of the region, who raised £100,000 (approximately R$ 470,000) through a Kickstarter campaign to carry out the tribute.
Regarding the vandalism, Stopps revealed that the person responsible for the bronze covering of the statue will redo the finishing to make it clean again, and clarified that no public money was used, since everything was created from donations from the crowdfunding campaign.
