Single celebrates 50 years since its release.

David Bowie 's classic single "Space Oddity" has received a new remix from Tony Visconti , the singer's longtime producer and colleague. The new version celebrates the 50th anniversary of the track, originally released on July 11, 1969.

The song achieved great success when it was used by NASA in its coverage of Neil Armstrong's arrival on the moon. In it, Bowie sings about the tragic story of Major Tom, an astronaut who enters orbit and communicates with Earth via radio with ground control.
