Dave Grohl 's , your stock of big dreams has either been exhausted, or there are only a few items left to cross off the list. And recently, the artist revealed one of those goals he still wants to achieve, and it couldn't be more beautiful and, of course, musical.
In an interview with the BBC , the Foo Fighters frontman shared the recent musical journey of Violet , his 14-year-old daughter, whom her father considers the best vocalist in the family. “Around two or three o’clock, I’d take a break and pick her up from school,” he recalled of the routine during the recording of the band’s new album, Medicine At Midnight . “Every now and then she’d want to go back to the house [where the album was recorded] and would sit on the sofa doing her homework.”
“One day, [producer] Greg Kurstin asked, ‘Hey, Violet, would you like to do some backing vocals?’ She went behind the microphone, did a few parts, and the chorus of ‘Making A Fire,’ that’s Violet’s high-pitched vocal right there,” he continues. “It seemed very natural [but] it didn’t seem official until my accountant called me a few months ago and asked where she should deposit Violet’s check.”
Completely bewildered, Dave asked her, "'What are you talking about?', and she said, 'Well, she sang on the album so she has to be paid for being on the record.' And I said, 'You can take that money and give it to me, and I'll put it in an account for Violet that she can open when she turns 18!'"
Despite the scare, Dave acknowledges and praises his daughter's gift and bright future, stating, "Violet has incredible musical talent. She can pick up any instrument and learn it in a week. She has a perfect tone of voice and sings from the heart," and adds, "Being her drummer is one of my life's dreams."
