Eight months after Jane's Addiction went on hiatus – cancelling the remainder of their US tour due to an on-stage fight between guitarist Dave Navarro and vocalist Perry Farrell – fans received an update on the band's future.

Recently, Dave Navarro gave an interview to Guitar Player , where he lamented the fight at the Boston show and gave an update on Jane's Addiction. When asked about the best and worst shows with the band, Dave commented: “There were some shows on that last tour we did last year in Europe with Eric Avery back on bass that were some of my all-time favorite Jane's Addiction shows. […] And yet, if you asked me what my least favorite show was, it would be a show last September, on Friday the 13th, in Boston.”

Taking advantage of the opportunity to address the issue, Dave Navarro spoke out for the first time about what happened and declared the end of Jane's Addiction: “I need to speak in general terms here, because there are other people involved and the issue is still very delicate and unresolved. There was a fight on stage, and all the hard work, dedication, songwriting, hours in the studio, and taking everything and leaving home, and crossing the country and Europe, and trying to overcome my illness — it all stopped abruptly and destroyed the band's life forever. And there is no chance of the band playing together again.”

“[…] I have to say that this is my least favorite show, without creating animosity, without mentioning names, pointing fingers and making excuses. […] There was no ego problem; we were just four guys making great music, just like we did in the beginning. It was just the two of us on stage, with people going crazy. And that show, on September 13th, in Boston, ended all that. And for that reason, this is my least favorite show of my life.”

The guitarist concluded: “I think that’s a pretty democratic way, you know, a pretty bipartisan way of approaching the subject. You know, the real sadness is the loss of that past… The experiences are there, but the potential to have that kind of experience ended that night. And then, you know… it is what it is. And that’s my answer.”

Fight on stage between Dave Navarro and Perry Farrell

The band released their first new song with the classic lineup in 34 years, the single “Imminent Redemption.” This return culminated in a tour of the United Kingdom and then the United States.

However, during a show that took place on September 13, 2024, at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston, tensions between the band members began to rise. There is a video showing vocalist Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro confronting each other mid-song. Farrell then throws a punch at Navarro. Another man then jumps between them, interrupting the fight. The show was then stopped.

Following the incident, the band shared an official statement announcing the cancellation of the remainder of the tour and the group's hiatus.
