Dave Mustaine , leader of Megadeth , said: "I feel like I still have the 'mojo' in my hands," in an interview with the Mexican channel OsvAlex Comunicación .
The musician explained, according to a full transcript published by the website Blabbermouth : “Right now, we’re organizing to go on tour, but in parallel, I’m also preparing the studio and all the equipment to start writing. I haven’t started composing new songs yet, but I’m getting ready.”
Dave continues: “The last few albums took a little longer than usual to finish because of personal issues, changes, pandemics, cancer, and all those unpleasant things that happened. I think this time the process of releasing a new album won't take as long. I feel like I still have the 'mojo' in my hands. Probably by the end of this year I'll be ready to start recording some new stuff.”
He further added: “You have to live your life between album releases, it’s complicated, and we’re going through a lot right now, and life is happening so fast. So, you need to take notes to really remember the things involved in the daily routine of recording and releasing an album. Actually, I need to record everything that happens in my life, like a diary, so I can look back and say, ‘Wow, look at everything I’ve accomplished, it seems crazy!’”
The changes that occurred in 2023
Following Megadeth's reunion with guitarist Marty Friedman for an exclusive show in Tokyo in February 2023, news broke of Kiko Loureiro , followed by his exit from the band.
Subsequently, Finnish guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari took over the position in September of the same year, at Kiko's own suggestion, as previously reported here on Wikimetal . The new musician's stage debut was on September 6, 2023, at Revel in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Megadeth in Brazil in 2024
On April 18th, the band will perform at Espaço Unimed in São Paulo, in their only show in Brazil as part of their Crush The World Tour in Latin America . Tickets are available through the Ticket360 .
But for those who can't attend the show, Mustaine said in an exclusive interview with the website IgorMiranda.com.br that there's a possibility of a live stream: “As far as I know, we will broadcast this show live to the world. It's also been a long time since we played in Argentina. All the fans have heard about what South American fans are like. I wish we could show the whole continent to the world. It's difficult to take a whole crew with you to film everything. But who knows? Something really special might happen when we can show them a little more than just one city. But I know we'll document this tour quite a bit.”
