Dave Mustaine's daughter releases a single with a sound very different from Megadeth: "I wanted to be myself"

The young woman is forging her own path in the music world and says she tried to distance herself from her father's identity.

It can be difficult for children of famous parents to find their own path. While some choose to follow in the footsteps of the previous generation, others seek to distance themselves professionally as much as possible so as not to live in the shadow of these giants.

Dave Grohl 's daughter showed she has an aptitude for rock, just like her father. Fifteen-year-old Violet impressed with her vocals on a cover of "Nausea" by the punk band X. Electra Mustaine , daughter of Dave Mustaine of Megadeth who launched herself into the world of music , and the young woman decided to find her own sound and leave thrash metal to her father.

In “Evergreen,” the first single from her debut album, Electra embraced electro-pop in a song made for teen radio. In the lyrics, she briefly mentions her father, commenting that he doesn't think she takes her work seriously. The theme of her DNA is prominent throughout the song, always revolving around fame and recognition.

“'Evergreen' shares my experiences in music and in life; constantly feeling like I fail to meet other people's expectations, but consciously choosing to ignore them,” Electra said in a statement. “From an early age I knew I wanted to be myself. I tried to distance myself from my father's identity by doing something musically opposite, but that is authentic to me!”

In early 2020, Dave Mustaine shared a video on his Instagram where he appears playing The Beatles' "Come Together" on guitar, while Electra sings a part of the song. Also through the social network, he showed support for his daughter and encouraged his followers to listen to the song.
