Looking for a new read? Dave Mustaine has the answer for you with the book Rust In Power: The Inside Story Of The Megadeth Masterpiece , which has a release date of September 8th.
As the title suggests, Mustaine will delve into the behind-the-scenes details of Megadeth , Rust In Peace . "It's a true story of revolutionary anti-pop that was pushing into the mainstream (or the mainstream that was pushing into the band), during a time of great cultural shift, power, ego, drugs, and other vices that went hand-in-hand with rock 'n' roll, around the late '80s and early '90s," says the book's synopsis.
“Little did Mustaine know that the pain of creating the album was nothing compared to the pain that would follow,” the synopsis continues. “Alcohol, drugs, sex, money, power, property, prestige, the lies told to the band by the industry – and the lies they told themselves – were just the beginning, and like rust in real life, these factors would consume the band's unity until only the music survived.”
The book will also feature a foreword by none other than Slash , “ Rust In Peace put the band on the map… Made Megadeth a family name… I certainly understand why every major anniversary of Rust In Peace is celebrated as a vital moment for Megadeth and for heavy metal,” writes the guitarist.
