Dave Mustaine takes a jab at KISS and "lazy" musicians who use playback.

"If you can play live, you're being a fucking lazy bum," he commented.

In an interview with Kerrang! , Dave Mustaine gave his opinion on musicians, especially in rock, who use playback in their shows.

The founder of Megadeth said he understands the tactic when artists are unable to sing certain parts of a song, but he didn't mince words when talking about the "laziness" of others who could have abandoned this tactic.

“I always sang backing vocals on our albums until about 10 years ago, when we brought in someone else to help supplement the vocals. I don’t like singing things I can’t reproduce live. I sing on the albums as much as possible what I can sing live,” she comments.

“If you can play live, you’re being a fucking lazy bum. An example is what happened a few days ago with one of those big bands and the singer… the tape started and the drummer wasn’t playing or something like that. You’ve probably heard about it. I don’t remember who it was.”

Since the interview was given in early June, during the Download Festival , it's likely that Dave Mustaine was referring to an incident involving KISS .

During a show, drummer Eric Singer got distracted and missed the drum beat, delaying a drum roll Paul Stanley 's cue . Stanley wasn't at the microphone at the time, but it's possible to hear his voice singing a snippet of "Detroit Rock City" to the audience. He gets to the microphone a few seconds late and tries to lip-sync the verse that just came out, but the microphone doesn't produce any sound.

Recently, Megadeth released their first song in 3 years, the single “ We'll Be Back ”, which is part of the new album The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead . This is also the band's first track without bassist David Ellefson , who left the group about a year ago after being involved in a sex scandal .
