On Tuesday night, the 14th, Megadeth played the single "Tipping Point" for the first time during a show in the Netherlands. The song is part of the group's upcoming and possibly final album , scheduled for release on January 23, 2026.
In a video posted on the mascot Vic Rattlehead , frontman Dave Mustaine admitted to being nervous before debuting the track. According to him, the original plan was to play "Tipping Point" during the shows in England.
“I was a little nervous about playing it because we hadn’t played it live yet. I always get a little nervous when we play a song for the first time. But it went well and the fans really liked it. I thought we were going to wait until we got to England [October 20th], but we were so excited because of the fans, their approval of the song and how many people are really responding positively to 'Tipping Point'. So we couldn’t wait any longer,” he stated [transcription via Blabbermouth ].
Megadeth will begin their farewell tour in 2026.
Megadeth's global farewell tour will Dave Mustaine will also release a new memoir next year, the details of which will be revealed in the coming months.
The announcement came after a countdown that Megadeth posted on their official website , with the slogan “The end is near. It’s crystal clear. Part of the master plan,” a line from the song “Holy Wars… The Punishment Due,” from the album Rust in Peace (1990).
In a statement on his official website , Dave Mustaine commented: “There are so many musicians who have reached the end of their careers, whether accidentally or intentionally. Most of them don't get to leave the top on their own terms, and that's where I am in my life now. I've traveled the world and gained millions and millions of fans, and the hardest part of all this is saying goodbye to them.”
Dave continued: “We can’t wait for you to hear this album and see us on tour. If there was ever a perfect time to release a new album, it’s now. If there was ever a perfect time to tour the world, it’s now. This is also the perfect time to say that this is our last studio album. We’ve made a lot of friends over the years and I hope to see you all on our farewell global tour.”
“Don’t be angry, don’t be sad, be happy for all of us, come celebrate with me in the years to come. We did something together that is truly wonderful and will probably never happen again. We started a musical style, we started a revolution, we changed the world of the guitar and how it’s played, and we changed the world. The bands I played in influenced the world. I love you all for that. Thank you for everything.”
