Megadeth's last release was in 2016
Dave Mustaine , vocalist and guitarist for Megadeth Guitar World magazine about the band's plans to release a new album. "We've been working on it for a few weeks now," he said. "All the band members are at home writing things and centralizing them in one place. Everyone can access each other's ideas. When we're finished, I'll start putting everything together."
Asked if this means we'll have something new in 2019, he said, "Absolutely, for sure. A whole new album. I'd say the chances are 95%. And at least one new song, I'd say 100%.".
The band's next album will be their first with drummer Dirk Verbeuren , formerly of Soilwork . Verbeuren replaced Chris Adler of Lamb Of God .
Mustaine also revealed that the release of the next album will coincide with an event curated by Megadeth: “We have a big festival that we’re going to announce. It’s a really big deal. Equivalent to Gigantour , but a much newer idea.”
Dystopia , an album released in 2016, was the first to feature Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro.
