Last Thursday, the 23rd, Megadeth released the new song "We'll Be Back ," their first single since the departure of bassist David Ellefson . In an interview with Rolling Stone , Dave Mustaine didn't let the matter go unnoticed and commented that he is "happier" now, even though the separation was "difficult."

Dave didn't want to talk much about the subject and refused to call Ellefson by name, referring to him only as "our former bassist." The ex-Megadeth member left the band about a year ago after a sex scandal involving him and his extramarital affairs with a young woman caused a major stir online.

“With everything that’s happened in the last 10, 20 years in my relationship with our former bassist, the time has come to… It’s very uncomfortable to talk about this,” Dave Mustaine began. “It was difficult having to part ways with him. But I’m happier today than I’ve ever been.”

At the time of his departure, David Ellefson had already recorded some songs for Megadeth's new album, The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!, but his parts were re-recorded by Testament Steve Di Giorgio , whom Dave Mustaine refers to in the interview as "a very talented musician". On stage, Ellefson was replaced by James LoMenzo .

Regarding the band as a whole, Mustaine adds: “It’s a different place now and I’m really happy. I feel completely invigorated. I think I’ve gained momentum and my best years are yet to come.”

In October , David Ellefson broke his silence since leaving Megadeth and also stated that he was "perfectly happy" with his life at the moment. After leaving the band, the bassist formed his own group, The Lucid , and stated that he had received support from "people all over the world" after everything that happened.
