The musician had to cancel some shows to continue with treatment.

Dave Mustaine , vocalist of Megadeth , revealed this Monday, the 17th, that he has been diagnosed with throat cancer. He also announced the cancellation of some shows he was scheduled to perform with the group in the coming days due to treatment.

“It’s clearly something to be respected and faced – but I’ve faced obstacles before. I’m working closely with my doctors and we’ve mapped out a treatment plan that they believe has a 90% success rate. Treatment has already begun,” he said in an Instagram post.

"Unfortunately, this requires us to cancel most of this year's shows. Megacruise 2019 will still happen, and the band will be involved in some way. All updated information will be on megadeth.com as we understand it. Megadeth will be back on the road as soon as possible."

"Meanwhile, Kiko, David, Dirk and I are in the studio, working on the sequel to Distopia. I am very grateful to my entire team – family, doctors, band members, coaches and many more."

Megadeth is one of the acts at Rock in Rio on October 4th. The festival organizers are still unsure if the show will go ahead.
