On the 15th, Megadeth cancelled to take place at the Virginia Credit Union Live!, in Richmond, Virginia, USA. In an announcement on social media, the band attributed the reason to "unforeseeable and unexpected circumstances" and said that the date would not be rescheduled.
Two days later, on Tuesday the 17th, Peter Frampton also similarly announced, on his Facebook page, the cancellation of his performance that night.
Contacted by the Richmond Times-Dispatch , the local newspaper, AEG Presents, the company responsible for the venue's schedule, declined to comment.
On Thursday the 19th, during a performance in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Frampton declared in front of the audience: “The other day, we had a show canceled because of the weather. And Megadeth did a soundcheck a few days before our show, and after they finished, there was damage to the stage. I'm not blaming them – it could happen to anyone – but that's what it looks like. Sorry, Megadeth, I had to snitch.”
In a statement to Blabbermouth , the Schneider Rondan Organization – responsible for Megadeth's press relations – declared that the band did not get to do a soundcheck because the venue's lighting and audio support structure was damaged, which would have posed a great risk of accident affecting the musicians, technical teams, and the audience, and therefore there was no option but to cancel the performance.
“It seems Frampton was misinformed about the cancellation of our show. The decision was purely based on safety,” Mustaine . “It’s disappointing when someone you admire pulls stories out of thin air about you.”
Despite the tone of Mustaine's response, the video of the moment suggests that the mention, before "Lines on My Face," was in good humor.
