Dave Mustaine announced he is "100%" cured of cancer. The revelation was made at a Megadeth in London on January 31st.
Halfway through his life, Mustaine spoke to the audience about his throat cancer, which was announced while the band was recording their new album. “At first, I thought, ‘Am I scared?’,” Mustaine recalled. “Then I said, ‘No. I’m pissed off.’ And we stopped the album, we stopped everything.”
He revealed that he underwent 51 radiation treatments and nine chemotherapy sessions after his diagnosis. He also said that he was determined to overcome the disease so that he could continue making music.
“I know many of you know that I pray,” he told the audience. “I said it in the song ‘Peace Sells.’ I pray every day. I say it in the song. I thought a lot about you too. About my family. And I received this power from you. On October 16th, I went to see the doctor and he said, ‘You are 100% cured of cancer.’”
