Megadeth guitarist and frontman Dave Mustaine has revealed that his band will not be returning to the stage after the This Was Our Life . In recent years, bands like Mötley Crüe and Slayer have announced farewell tours, but ended up returning to the stage years later.

In an interview with Metal Hammer , Dave said [transcription via Blabbermouth ]: “I don’t think [that’s going to happen]. You see the hype associated with bands like that. You know they never follow through and never keep their word.”

Asked by MariskalRockTV about how he plans to keep busy after Megadeth's live activities end, he commented: “Well, there’s still so much going on right now that I don’t want to think about it too much. I can’t think about an end at this moment.”

He added: “I don’t think there will be a ‘next day.’ I believe that, for all of us, we will always be in Megadeth. We will always be brothers and best friends, and we will always be responsible for making some of the most fun music that bassists, guitarists, and drummers have ever dreamed of playing.”

Megadeth will come to Brazil in May for a single show in São Paulo

Megadeth has confirmed a single performance in Brazil on May 2, 2026, at Espaço Unimed in São Paulo, as part of their  Farewell Tour . Tickets are already sold out.

The upcoming farewell album , titled Megadeth , is scheduled for release on January 23rd by Mustaine's Tradecraft label . The final single, "Let There Be Shred," is already available .

In addition to the 10 tracks, Dave Mustaine reported that the band recorded three additional songs as bonus tracks. Interestingly, one of them is Metallica 's "Ride The Lightning ." The musician also announced the release of his new memoir, the details of which will be revealed in the coming months.
