Last Friday, the 12th, Megadeth vocalist Dave Mustaine Jose Mangin 's SiriusXM event , The Metal Tour of The Year , and revealed some news about the band's new album, their first of new material since Dystopia in 2016.

Dirk [ Verbeuren ] and David Ellefson finished their part. And this is probably one of the strongest albums we have in terms of length,” Mustaine says, recalling that Megadeth albums vary in length and number of tracks.

The vocalist continues the interview recounting the creative process, revealing that together they created 15 original songs specifically for this new work. “And then we got to the end and I said, ‘Damn, we didn’t think about the covers.’ We had thought about recording some covers for this album (…) And then we ended up preparing 18 songs in total, but then we remembered another track that was part of another song, so we got to 19. [We] got rid of one cover and now we have an album with 18 tracks.”

When asked about the musical direction the album was taking, Dave replied that he believed this album would enter his top 5 alongside Countdown To Extinction (1992), Rust In Piece (1990), Peace Sells… but Who's Buying? (1986) and Dystopia .
