At 59 years old and cured of cancer, Dave Mustaine is now celebrating having earned a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Megadeth 's frontman recently earned his belt, as shown on the Facebook page of the Gracie Barra academy in Tennessee. In a photo they shared, Mustaine poses alongside his instructor Reginaldo Almeida , a third-degree black belt.
According to Almeida, the vocalist and guitarist was a blue belt for two years. In Jiu-Jitsu, a fighter starts with a white belt and progresses through blue, purple, brown, and finally, there are various degrees of black belt.
