Dave Mustaine hadn't finished his rant about Metallica when he said he wrote "many of the songs that made them famous." Guitar World interview in which the Megadeth made this controversial statement has been released in its entirety, with new jabs at his former band.

When asked about the secret to Megadeth's longevity, with 40 years of career and still active, Mustaine cited the attitude of "not accepting bullshit" from others. And the example of how this works? Apparently, it lies in the troubled relationship with the members of Metallica, with whom he would still like to tour.

“People know that Metallica always tried to hold me back. They never expected me to do what I did after they screwed me over, but I managed to do it and made better records along the way. But I don’t care because I’m happy with my success, and I’ve had a lot. The music we make now says everything you need to know. But I hope we can tour together before all is said and done, but I don’t know if we will,” he said.

Speaking more about his journey with Megadeth from the beginning, Dave Mustaine considers that he knew how to "maintain his integrity." "When I injured my arm, I sold my instruments to pay the people I owed. Many bands say 'screw it' when they break up, leaving the sellers empty-handed. No, I'm very different. I'm an old-school guy. I do what I said I would do. That's why Megadeth is still here," he concluded.

In the same interview, Mustaine also mentioned the efforts to make a joint tour with Metallica happen, how he influenced the band's sound, and his resentment over some alleged statements made by his former bandmates. Read more here .
