Read the statements
Following the beautiful tributes from Guns N' Roses and Foo Fighters , statements from various artists and bands including Ozzy , and messages from AC/DC members Brian Johnson and Angus Young , now the leader and founder of Megadeth has paid a beautiful tribute to Malcolm Young, who passed away last Saturday.
Mustaine says:
“Most people don’t know that AC/DC was Malcolm’s band and that they weren’t Australian; they were Scottish. Little things like that are what made them unique.”
"I played in a band that did a lot of AC/DC covers, and having to play those songs taught me a completely different approach to playing, where you don't have billions of layers. It's all based on the riff. Before that, Rock N' Roll was about strumming chords, not playing riffs. A riff is a cyclical melody, and if it's not good, you'll know it right away. A good riff is something you can keep playing, repeating and repeating, and Malcolm wrote a lot of them.".
Dave Mustaine's full statement can be read here , and below is the post the Megadeth frontman made, which reads:
“Malcolm is gone, and although his music lives on, there are no words to express this sadness. Sweet and bitter as this feeling is, I am glad that he is free from dementia and in Heaven with Bon and his brother George. I owe so much to Malcolm Young and his incredible talent. Malcolm, you are my hero and I will see you one day in Heaven.”.
