Y &T frontman Dave Meniketti has announced that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The 68-year-old guitarist and vocalist stated this via his social media:
“After several blood tests, a detailed MRI, and finally the biopsy last Friday, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My doctor says we caught it very early and that the chances of survival are very high. More than 90% of patients who have this type of cancer manage to recover (mine is growing relatively slowly). After a lifetime of always taking care of my health and physical fitness, and since we detected it so early, these are good reasons for me to survive.”
“I urge everyone to listen to their bodies and get regular checkups. I know several people who haven’t, and it’s the difference between a long life and death.”
Meniketti also said that some shows have been postponed for now, but he hopes the schedule will be resumed soon.
Y &T — which was initially known as YESTERDAY AND TODAY — has Dave Meniketti as the only remaining member from the lineup that recorded their self-titled debut album.
