In another chapter of Dave Grohl about moments in his career, the Foo Fighters recalls moments he shared with one of his idols, David Bowie .
After writing about another idol, Prince , Grohl recounts a hilarious story (as one might expect from the musician) in which Bowie, in an email exchange, told him to "fuck off"... of course, jokingly, but the feeling of nervousness in Grohl's stomach upon reading that from one of the greatest music legends will always stay with him.
Grohl also recalls the importance of English in his musical life, stating that his first album, David Live , was one of his favorite soundtracks as a child, and that in his teens, with his "nerdy band," he would sing "Suffragette City" with his "small, skinny neck."
Furthermore, he recalls the first time he witnessed Bowie in person, “So when he walked (levitated?) onto the stage that night, I felt like I was being visited by another life form,” Dave wrote. “The kind of ‘Starman’ I searched for in the night sky as a child, waiting for his golden spaceship to descend into my garden and take me away from my banal suburban life. It was the first time I witnessed Bowie’s grace and power live, and it provided me with a startling revelation.”
