Dave Grohl says Kurt Cobain was "the greatest songwriter of his generation."

The musician also lamented the absence of his friend and bandmate

Dave Grohl , frontman of the Foo Fighters , spoke again about his former band Nirvana and offered numerous compliments to vocalist and friend Kurt Cobain.

“Kurt [Cobain] was blessed with a gift and I can safely say that he was the greatest songwriter of my generation,” the vocalist stated on Medicine At Midnight Radio , Foo Fighters' own radio station on Apple Music . “I’m very proud to have been his drummer and to have played those [Nirvana] songs every night,” he added.

He also commented on Kurt Cobain's death, revealing it to be one of the most challenging things he's ever gone through. "And ultimately, one of the greatest sorrows of my life is that Nirvana isn't here anymore making music," he lamented, and continued: "It's one of the greatest sorrows of my life that Kurt isn't here to write more incredible songs.".
