It is not yet known who will record and release the track
A few years ago, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl revealed that David Bowie turned down a collaboration when he offered to record a song together. Now, the track will finally be released.
In an interview with GQ , Grohl recounted the fate of the song after it was rejected by Bowie. According to him, the frontman went back to work on it and gave it to another band.
“I tried for years and thought it was the coolest thing in the world. We tried, we worked on it, and then I contacted Bowie to talk about doing a collaboration for a movie soundtrack, but it didn't work out. He didn't like the movie. It wasn't me, it was the movie (laughs). Then I worked on it more and ended up giving it to another band, who still haven't used it.”
When asked which band received the track, he declined to say so as not to "spoil the surprise," since the group plans to release it at some point.
Currently, Foo Fighters are on tour promoting their latest album, Concrete and Gold (2017), in the United States.
