Dave Grohl lists essential albums for homeschooling children

Rock classics appear in the Foo Fighters frontman's selection

During a conversation with the BBC , Dave Grohl , lead singer of the Foo Fighters , shared his experience homeschooling his daughters during the pandemic. “My daughters know who I am. I’ve shown them my school report cards, so they won’t necessarily come to me for academic matters.”

He further revealed: “I can be a cheerleader, I can make you an amazing breakfast, and I can make you smile before you start your day, but you won’t want me for your history lessons. You won’t want me to help you with trigonometry.”

So the journalist decided to talk about what Grohl really understands: music. He asked the musician what three albums would be essential for the distance learning of young people's music education. And then Grohl replied: "Well, you'll have to pick Sgt. Pepper's by the Beatles . One reason is that this album still connects with people the way it did when it was released."

“Now, if you want to become a drummer, you’re going to want to get AC/DC ’s Back In Black It’s basically the first lesson for any rock and roll drummer. A third album. I like to party once in a while. I like to dance, come on, let’s pick [the soundtrack from] Saturday Night Fever . Look, if you put on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, it’ll transform the atmosphere into a Saturday night even if it’s Monday morning.”

Foo Fighters recently released their 10th studio album, Medicine at Midnight . Click here to listen.
