On Sunday, February 11th, the 2024 Super Bowl took place, and while a large part of the United States population was watching the game, Dave Grohl was having a barbecue for people in vulnerable social situations.
According to the non-profit organization Hope of the Valley, the Foo Fighters and some of his friends grilled meat in a 24-hour shift for The Woodlands Family Shelter in California.
In a thank-you post on Instagram, it was reported that the amount of food prepared was equivalent to 1800 meals. In another post showing Dave and the team of volunteers in action, Hope of The Valley expressed their gratitude: “Thank you to Dave and his friends from his studio for coming out with us and spreading love through a hot meal.” A behind-the-scenes video of the action led by Dave was also posted on the organization's YouTube channel.
Cook for good causes
Social action is nothing new for the musician. In March 2023, he had already hosted a barbecue for 450 people in Los Angeles , together with Hope of the Valley.
In December 2023, while on tour in Australia, he chose to spend his day off helping to feed homeless people in Melbourne.
Another occasion worth remembering happened in 2018, when David made barbecue for the firefighters who worked to contain the California wildfires.
