Cornwall City Council in England punished a metal band
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has asked the Cornwall city council in England to lift the noise restrictions imposed on a heavy metal band.
The band Black Leaves Of Envy, formed by four teenagers between 15 and 17 years old who rehearse in their own garage, received an order last week not to exceed the maximum noise limit of 40 decibels – something equivalent to a bird chirping.
Outraged, Andrew Plenty, the father of two of the band members, asked Dave Grohl to intervene, since he had already spoken about the importance of young musicians being able to express themselves.

The former Nirvana drummer then wrote a letter to the Cornwall city council which says:
“Like many musicians, I started out in a garage in my neighborhood. My teenage years were filled with playing with friends. Music is not only a healthy hobby, but a wonderful and creative outlet for young people, fostering a sense of community necessary for the emotional and social development of any child.”.
The lack of resources to rehearse in a professional environment means that garages and basements are the only places many musicians have to develop their talent and passion. I believe it is crucial that children have a space to explore their creativity and establish their own sense of self through music. Preserving this is fundamental to the future of art and music. Without it, where would we be?”
The Foo Fighters frontman continues: “For the sake of the Cornwall band, Black Leaves Of Envy, and the generations of young musicians they will eventually inspire, I request that you reconsider the decision regarding volume restrictions in your private rehearsal space.
By doing this, I know you will be sending a message that Cornwall is not only a home for music and art, but also a place that encourages children to pursue their dreams in a world where anything is possible.”.
