The group's new work will be released in July.

“I don’t need a dictator controlling me,” sings Daron Malakian in the new song “Dictator.” The track is part of the System Of A Down , Scars on Broadway , and speaks about the fight against authoritarianism.

The release follows the track “Lives” , another political manifesto from the musician and his band, and both will be featured on the album Dictator, scheduled for release on July 20th.

Malakian wrote, produced, and played all the instruments in 10 days five years ago, but in anticipation of SOAD releasing a new album, he put his project aside, only resuming it this year after the group revealed that they don't plan to release any new material anytime soon.

“This album has more of a System Of A Down side to it than the first Scars on Broadway album,” he told Rolling Stone magazine when talking about the project. The musician also said that he doesn't intend to tour with Scars on Broadway because he will be with his SOAD colleagues on their first series of shows since 2015.
