Dark Tranquility has announced their new album Endtime Signals and released the first single, “The Last Imagination”.
This is the thirteenth album from the melodic death metal band and will be released on August 16th by Century Media Records .
The song “The Last Imagination” is now available on streaming platforms, complete with a visualizer video created by the band's former guitarist, Niklas Sundin . The video, which can be seen below, offers a glimpse of the Swedish band's new work.
About the album Endtime Signals
Dark Tranquility is coming off a very successful period in their career with the album Atoma (2016), which reached second place on the Swedish album charts, and Moment (2020), which was awarded a Grammis .
In a press release, the band said they are proud and relieved to finally have new material and that "The Last Imagination" is just one of the many facets present in Endtime Signals , which is the most diverse album they have ever made.
Regarding the songwriting process, they commented that it has been an incredible, focused, and intense experience, in which they rediscovered aspects of their own music and took certain elements of it even further than before. According to the band, the album has a ferocious speed, an oppressive brutality, and haunting melodies.
The band stated: “Thematically, the album is about where we’re going, what has truly and fundamentally changed within us, and how we’ve found ways to cope with it. It’s been difficult to find that spark of positivity lately, and there’s a sense of sadness running through the album. Not just in the sense of lamenting what we’ve lost on a personal level, but also where our sacrifices have led us. 'The Last Imagination' in particular takes this to its logical conclusion and speaks to what we’ve left behind and how difficult it is for us to understand that our meaning may not be what we imagined.” (via Blabbermouth )
Launch at Summer Breeze in Germany
The album's release date, August 16th, was chosen intentionally.
On the same day, Dark Tranquility will be playing at Summer Breeze in Dinkelsbühl, Germany, celebrating Endtime Signals live.
But before that, Dark Tranquility will be playing shows in Turkey, South America, and Tunisia. The band will perform in São Paulo on April 27th at Summer Breeze Brasil .
