At a show in Buenos Aires, Argentina, last Friday, the 21st, the band Dark Angel premiered two unreleased songs, something that hadn't happened since 1991.

Drummer Gene Hoglan revealed in an interview earlier this month ( via Metal Injection ) that the band will debut unreleased songs at upcoming shows. Dark Angel has a performance scheduled for the Metal Beer Open Air Festival in Chile on the 23rd of this month, where they also intend to play new material. However, Hoglan did not specify whether the unreleased tracks previously presented will be the same ones performed at the festival.

Hoglan also adds: "[The newly released tracks] will lead to a whole lot of other things. And we're very excited to be releasing new material to the metal world."

The new album, scheduled for release later this year, will be the first the band has written without guitarist Jim Durkin , who passed away in 2023 after taking a break from the band for personal reasons.

Hoglan explained: “[The new album is] a tribute to Jim,” highlighting that the band's new material carries much of his spirit and essence. The drummer revealed that he and Jim met several times to compose the new songs, but although they weren't able to record them together, there's a possibility that a track written by Jim will be on the album, perfectly capturing the identity of Dark Angel.

A few days ago, the band released a teaser revealing that they have been working on new material since the end of 2024. However, due to the wildfires that occurred in California, some plans had to be postponed.
