Dark Angel has released the new single “Circular Firing Squad”. This is the second single from the band's first album in 34 years, Extinction Level Event , scheduled for release in 2025 by Reversed Records .
The pioneering Californian thrash metal band made their Brazilian debut at Bangers Open Air 2025 , where they performed the album's title track, "Extinction-Level Event," dedicated to founding guitarist Jim Durkin , who died at age 58. The track was written by Jim Durkin a decade ago. The guitarist passed away in 2023 after suffering from a serious liver disease.
The album was recorded and mixed at Armoury Studios Gene Hoglan handled production , Rob Shallcross was responsible for engineering, and Mike Fraser for mixing.
Everblack podcast [via Blabbermouth ], Gene Hoglan said that the successor to Leave Scars (1989) “is quite fierce”. He also said he was “excited” and that they are close to finalizing the process.
“It’s a really fierce album. I’m excited about it. It took a long time to come out, but now that we’re getting closer to the release, the process is nearing its end. So, everyone keep an eye out.”
