Dark Angel has released their highly anticipated new single “Extinction Level Event.” The Californian group will make their Brazilian debut at Bangers Open Air on May 3rd. Tickets are on sale here .
The track marks the return of new material after 34 years and gives its name to the new album , expected to be released sometime in 2025.
The album was recorded and mixed at Armoury Studios Gene Hoglan handled production , Rob Shallcross was responsible for engineering, and Mike Fraser for mixing.
In a statement [via Blabbermouth ], Hoglan said he was "musically, lyrically and vocally" thrilled with the album. According to him, everyone who has heard the complete material "is blown away".
The song holds special significance for the group, as it was composed a decade ago by guitarist Jim Durkin. Sadly, Durkin passed away due to a serious liver disease.
“Jim Durkin left us with this incredible song. It’s very Dark Angel, I’m very excited about it. It’s the opening track on the album, not as a tribute to him or for sentimental reasons—like, ‘Here’s the song Jim left us’—it’s more because it’s a killer song. He wrote it ten years ago and, by today’s standards, it still holds up,” Gene added.
