American vocalist Danny Vaughn, best known for his work with the hard rock band Tyketto , returned to Brazil after 15 years, initially for two shows: one in the city of Curitiba (PR) and another in São Paulo (SP). With tickets quickly selling out for the first date in the São Paulo capital, fans were given an extra date which took place at House Of Legends.
The high demand is justified. The singer performed the album Don't Come Easy (1991), a Tyketto , in its entirety, in addition to other career hits. Accompanied by Bruno Luiz (guitar – Command6), Bento Mello (bass – Sioux66), Gabriel Haddad (drums – Sioux66) and Bruno Sá (keyboards – Geoff Tate), Danny welcomed the fans and started the show with "Reach", from the 2016 album of the same name. The excellent band showed competence, while the vocalist exuded charm and an intact voice.
The show really heated up with the trio of songs from the album Don't Come Easy : "Wings," "Burn Down Inside," and "Walk On Fire." The audience, initially shy, started singing along and interacted intensely with the band's classics.
Before announcing the next song, Vaughn said he didn't know how to describe these three shows in Brazil, but that he felt very honored to be back. The hard rock continued with the powerful "Strength In Numbers." With his harmonica in hand, the musician played "Strip Me Down" and elicited sighs with a provocative performance. In "Seasons," Danny used a 12-string guitar, and the initial acoustic moment of the song served as an opportunity for fans to sing along, just like in "Nothing But Love.".
The show continued with “Lay Your Body Down.” In this song, drummer Gabriel Haddad provided the groove, while Vaughn tested the audience's vocal abilities, which were impressive during the chorus. Another highlight was the guitar solo, in which Bruno Luiz showcased his virtuoso side. The guitarist's talent was also evident in “Rescue Me,” making the audience's satisfaction clear with these songs that had been part of their lives. “ This song is very important to me, it touched many people and I still receive many comments about it, you are not alone, ” said the vocalist before announcing “Standing Alone.” It was one of the high points of the night; Vaughn's dramatic interpretation moved the fans, who sang the ballad with emotion. He received a standing ovation and followed with “Catch My Fall.”
The performance was drawing to a close, but before it did, Danny made a point of praising the band that accompanied him. He said that playing with musicians like them was like being in a tank, where nothing could hit him. The recognition was well-deserved; the guys were impeccable and made the singer feel completely at ease. They closed this part with "Sail Away," with another great interaction from the incredibly in-tune audience.
The farewell was short, and they soon returned with a surprise: the presence of vocalist BJ (Jeff Scott Soto & Spektra) to sing "Heaven Tonight" by the band Waysted , of which Danny was a member in the 1980s. The Brazilian delivered a great duet and earned applause from the audience. There was still time for "The Last Sunset," and of course, "Forever Young" couldn't be missing to close the night perfectly.
With a performance lasting just over an hour and a half, the charismatic Danny Vaughn, accompanied by a competent band, delivered an electrifying show in which fans were able to relive an album that marked an era and is revered to this day, in a nostalgic night of hard rock making all those years of waiting worthwhile.
