Danny Kirwan, former Fleetwood Mac member, dies at age 68.

The musician recorded five studio albums with the band.

Danny Kirwan , former guitarist for Fleetwood Mac , passed away at the age of 68 on the 8th. His death was confirmed by a post on the band's official Facebook page . "Danny was a great force early in our career. His love of the blues led us to invite him to join the band in 1968," the statement read.

“Danny’s true legacy, for me, will live on forever in the music he wrote and played with Fleetwood Mac,” wrote Mick Fleetwood . “Thank you, Danny Kirwan. You will be missed forever!” concludes the band’s statement. The cause of death has not yet been released.

At age 18, Kirwan was invited to play alongside Mick Fleetwood , John McVie , Peter Green , and Jeremy Spencer on the group's third studio album, Then Play On , released in 1969. After Green and Spencer left, the guitarist continued on for four more albums: Blues Jam At Chess (1969), Klin House (1970), Future Games (1971), and Bare Trees (1972).

Bare Trees tour , he was fired due to his alcoholism problems, which negatively impacted Kirwan's relationship with the rest of the band. He was soon replaced by Bob Weston .

Upon leaving Fleetwood Mac, Kirwan attempted to pursue a solo career, something that became unsustainable given his condition. In the late 1970s, he left the music industry and withdrew from the media. In 1993, news surfaced claiming he was living in a hostel that served as a shelter for the homeless.
