VIPER announced this Thursday, the 17th, that Daniel Matos , brother of Andre Matos , is the band's new bassist. The musician replaces Pit Passarell, who passed away at age 56 on September 26th while battling pancreatic cancer.

Daniel had already performed with the band on two occasions, including the one that took place on the 13th in Colombia. According to the band, the performance was the first international show of the tour promoting their most recent album, Timeless (2023).

The band announced Daniel's joining the band on social media with the following message: “When Pit Passarell fell ill and was hospitalized after a performance in São Paulo on August 31, 2024, VIPER had three shows scheduled for the following months. The first of these was to be at Sesc Catanduva on September 12. To fulfill this commitment, we invited a musician who has been part of the VIPER family for decades: Dani Matos, our childhood friend and brother of Andre, VIPER's first vocalist.”

The group went on to say that the shows they did without Pit were a tribute to him, and then "after the performance, we got together and, in a very emotional atmosphere, officially invited Dani Matos to join VIPER. He accepted."

The band then celebrates the musician's arrival: "Welcome, Dani!"
